Today with Francis Taping | Katialis Segment

Image
Since these photos were taken last January and the experience wasn't fresh in my mind. I had to write this time a photo essay instead of a full written blog. My first trimester during my pregnancy kinda made me a bit lazy so there were a lot of stories remained unwritten. But I promised myself that I have to write this blog for my children to read when they are all grown up, I had to write my blog, one step at a time. The photos were taken last January during our taping at Today with Francis on GMA Life TV. The show is aired in 19 countries and we are already on our second season. My hubby and I write the script, I direct the show  and my hubby edits the episodes. Perfect tandem. :D So here you go. According to the owner, we were the only TV production allowed to have a peek inside their factory. Those little boxes are the katialis. The skin ointment which cure most of the Filipino families' skin diseases.  It's a busy day inside the factory. They have about...

The Complicated Puto

Image
I know you would be wondering why it is called as complicated puto - it's actually my husband who called this as complicated puto. For a week now, we couldn't find the puto cups so we could steam puto. Thus, one afternoon, when I was in the mood to cook something for merienda, I decided to get away with whatever mold we have at home. So, I decided to use the leche flan molds. I think it's convenient too. We settled for 3 leche flan molds for the supposed to be puto cakes. It turned out well. I was hesitant at first if the puto is already done but my hubby said that when it's already shiny and bouncy then it's already done. I had to slowly take off the puto out from the molds so it won't stick. Then I had to put the puto on the plate upside down. Then transfer it to a plate by using another plate to let the shiny part of the puto be on its top side - you know, for production values purposes. LOL. then I had to put butter on top and some grated chee...

Chinese Food

Image
I love Chinese food. :) I think apart from cakes, Chinese food is also my comfort food. It just makes me happy. Maybe, one reason for this is my dad when he was still with us, used to bring us to Chinese restaurants. He let us study in a Chinese school from elementary to high school. He trained us how to be like Chinese (although we are not, but according to my grandparents, we too have Chinese blood). I speak a bit of Chinese. My good old friends are Chinese. 70% of my classmates were Chinese. My dad worked with a Chinese employer. So, there goes my love affair with anything Chinese. Well, to make the story short, I always try to visit any Chinese restaurants in Ongpin. The last time that I was with boss we tried Hap-Chan :) It's not a hole in the wall restaurant, the food isn't that expensive but it's not for those who wants to try Chinese food in a shoe-string budget. Well, I was able to binge in because my boss paid for everything. And oh, it was oh so heavenly. :) ...

Love Food. Love Life

Image
I usually fail to watch my diet whenever I'm away from home. There are food that I just can't resist - because for the following reasons: 1. I love food. I love food. I love food. Ongpin in Manila is the best place to explore how far your appetite would go. 2. Food makes bonding easily. First, you can talk about the food, how it tastes, how it was cooked, where it originated, where to find the best food, then you can shift topic to whatever you want. You just have to start with the food you both eat. If you're having a squabble with your loved one, sometimes, sharing food helps, sometimes not. There's a restaurant in Naga, that my husband and I ate for the first time and for the last time. According to him, he chose that restaurant where we can talk, but at the back of his mind, he doesn't have any plans of going back. We fought there bad - over a big cheeseburger and two glasses of coke. It was a heartbreaking night, food wasn't appreciated tha...

My Girls Girly Girly Resto | White Bean Restaurant

Image
When I dine out these days, I usually consider what my girls like to eat. I can only decide for myself whenever I'm travelling alone or with a group at work. When these girls came into my life, even my choice of restaurant changed – always to their conformity! :) But anyway, for several weeks now, my girls, Gaby and Wafi are always in awe looking at this resto, they call Girly-girly – actually, the restaurant's name is White Bean. It is conveniently located at the ground floor of Nagaland Hotel. :) White Bean's Menu - everything's for sharing, so don't worry about the price.  Hamburger and fries for my girls! and mango shake! Wafi's drawing while waiting for our food. That's Jake! Obviously, she's a Daddy's Girl!H Having fun while waiting for our food and waiting for the rain to stop Gaby's growing up so fast! Isn't this cute? books and that little Tower of Pisa?  Another Dad's girl!G On o...

My Own Princess Bubblegum and Marceline, The Vampire Queen Birthday Bash

Image
My daughters celebrate their birthday in two consecutive months. Wafi was born on October 03, while Gaby on November 02. Both of them are girls, so to speak, expect that what I gave Wafi on her birthday should be the same or almost the same as Gaby's otherwise, one of them will feel bad. So, it's an identical birthday celebration, I cooked moussaka and bacon spaghetti for the girls on each of their birthdays. It's their favorite and thank God, everything is easy to prepare! The only difference is the cake. Wafi had her favorite Princess Bubblegum, a cute bubblegumsy pink birthday cake! Gaby of course opted for her favorite Marceline, the Vampire Queen, a pink and black cute square birthday cake! :) There's a rock word on the cake of Wafi, so Gaby's cake should have a rock word too. Nonetheless, I am still thankful to God for my daughters, who are kind and simple. They are amazed and always in awe with simple things around them, ants, pl...
